FELIX 'TITO' TRINIDAD, considered one of the best boxers in Puerto Rico's history, will be inducted to the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 8, 2014.

CANASTOTA, NY - The opening bell rings today for the 25th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, June 5-8th. A huge gathering of boxing legends of yesterday and today will assemble to participate in festivities in Canastota.




"The Hall of Fame Weekend is boxing's highlight weekend of the year. In Canastota, boxing fans can mingle with an incredible roster of boxing legends and celebrate the great sport," said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. "The Hall of Fame Weekend is for anyone who loves the sport of boxing and we are very excited about honoring the Class of 2014."




The four-day celebration will officially begin with the opening ceremony at 5 p.m. today (Thursday) on the Hall of Fame grounds. The weekend will also feature many events including ringside lectures, banquet, golf tournament, 5K Race / Fun Run, the Parade of Champions and the Official Induction Ceremony on Sunday, June 8th at 2:30 p.m.




Living inductees include two division champion "The Pride of Wales" Joe Calzaghe, six division world champion "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya, three division champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad, promoter Barry Hearn, referee Richard Steele, journalist Graham Houston and photographer Neil Leifer.  Posthumous inductees in the Old-Timer, Pioneer and Non-Participant categories will also be honored.




"The Village of Canastota and the Hall of Fame organization looks forward to welcoming boxing fans from around the world to celebrate the sport and help the Hall of Fame celebrate its 25th Anniversary,'" said Brophy.




Over 40 boxing stars of yesterday and today, including "Big" George Foreman, Andre "S.O.G." Ward, Erik Morales, "Irish" Micky Ward, Pipino Cuevas, Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor, Zab "Super" Judah, Gerry Cooney, Carlos Ortiz, John John Molina, Wilfredo Vazquez, Glen Johnson, and many more will participate in the festivities.




Grand marshal of the Parade of Champions, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th, is Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri.
