Interview by Robert Quijano
I had the opportunity to catch up with exciting 30 year old boxer Arturo Quintero (16-4-1 with 9 KOs) at his Relentless Boxing Gym in San Jose (70 N. 27th Street, San Jose Ca. 95116). I arrived a little early and observed as Arturo did some mittwork with his trainer Jesse Huerta. This gym was very nicely equipped and spacious, not at all like the humble gyms I am used to in Puerto Rico. Once the work in the ring was concluded, I opened up the questions for Arturo. I started by mentioning to Arturo how he suffered a bad gash over his right eye in his last fight on July 18th in San Francisco. The gash was caused by an accidental head-butt but Arturo still managed to win the fight decisively. I asked Arturo how he eye was. Arturo responded, “It was the first cut in all my pro fights. I feel I took it well.” Arturo acknowledged the great work done by cut man James Michael Bazzel and that sparring should commence by the end of this month.
