The Verdanza Hotel in Isla Verde Puerto Rico was the site of today’s intense press conference for Black Tiger Promotions “Guerra en El Clemente.” The War at the Clemente almost became the War at the Verdanza after security had to separate the two Main Event combatants, Juan “Juanma” Manuel Lopez and Wilfredo “Papito” Vazquez Jr.
The press conference started calmly with Black Tiger Promotions President Carlos Maldonado speaking to everyone regarding the cancellation due to the Island wide power outage recently suffered and thanked the AAE Electric Company, thanked the sponsors, and said that this fight was a long time coming. Maldonado introduced undercard fighters that were present but then focused on the Pay per View fights. The PPV card will open with former Olympian Jantony Ortiz facing Luis “Mosley” Hernandez in a six round bout with a maximum of 125 lbs. Ortiz and his trainer both spoke briefly and both assured that they are ready for this return to the ring after being inactive. Maldonado then introduced Armando Alamo, father and trainer to Yomar Alamo who will defend his WBC 140 lb. FECARBOX title against Edwin Lopez from Virginia in a bout scheduled for 8 rounds. Armando advised that they have trained very hard for this fight and are ready to defend the title. Yomar was next to the podium and thanked everyone for being present. Yomar assured everyone that he is ready and will walk out of the ring with his title in hand. Throughout the entire press conference “Papito” sat in his chair with his ear phones on, occasionally singing but most of the time staring at Juanma.
