Vazquez is set to return to the ring September 20, 2013 (opponent TBA) at the Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida. During our interview, Vazquez advised us that there will be a new addition to the team. ANGEL "Memo" HEREDIA, also known as Angel Hernandez is now his strength and conditioning coach. HERE'S WHAT VAZQUEZ HAD TO SAY:
"Say what you wish about Heredia but I'm at peace having him in charge of my strength and conditioning. If God put in my path, it's for a reason. We will work with him, we'll be back."
"I plan on going up 126 but first I will attempt, once again to become champion at 122 then move up to 126."
"Everyone knows that the fight I want is with JuanMa Lopez."
"I'm waiting for that fight. It's the fight that all of Puerto Rico wants to see."
"In boxing you win some and you lose some. All you can do is get back up and keep going."
"JuanMa, I know you want the fight. Let's give the people what they want. What we have is not personal. Our fight will do good business. I'll even let you weigh-in at 127.5 lbs. I'll give you the 1.5 lbs advantage, and I'll come in at 126. Let's just get it done!"
On April 6, 2013, Vazquez Jr. (22-3-1, 19 KO's) loss his WBO International Super Bantamweight title by way of majority decision to Yasutaka Ishimoto, in Macao, China.
